Theory and numerical modelling of parity-time symmetric structures in photonics: Introduction and grating structures in one dimension (2016)
Book Chapter

A class of structures based on PT PT-symmetric Bragg gratings in the presence of both gain and loss is studied. The basic concepts and properties of parity and time reversal in one-dimensional structures that possess idealised material properties are... A hybrid Boundary Element Unstructured Transmission-line (BEUT) method for accurate 2D electromagnetic simulation (2016)
Journal Article

Time domain electromagnetic simulation tools have the ability to model transient, wide-band applications, and non-linear problems. The Boundary Element Method (BEM) and the Transmission Line Modeling (TLM) method are both well established numerical t... Experimental benchmarking of Unstructured Transmission Line Modelling (UTLM) method in modelling twisted wires (2016)
Journal Article

In this paper the Unstructured Transmission Line Modelling (UTLM) method based on a tetrahedral mesh has been applied to modelling of the coupling between a single wire and a twisted wire pair. The effects of wire twisting on the crosstalk and coupli... Read More about Experimental benchmarking of Unstructured Transmission Line Modelling (UTLM) method in modelling twisted wires.

Extended Capability Models for Carbon Fiber Composite (CFC) Panels in the Unstructured Transmission Line Modeling (UTLM) Method (2016)
Journal Article

© 2016 IEEE. An effective model of single- and multilayered thin panels, including those formed using carbon fiber composite (CFC) materials, is incorporated into the transmission line modeling (TLM) method. The thin-panel model is a one-dimensional... Read More about Extended Capability Models for Carbon Fiber Composite (CFC) Panels in the Unstructured Transmission Line Modeling (UTLM) Method.

Modelling antennas in outer space using the boundary element unstructured transmission-line (BEUT) method (2015)
Presentation / Conference

In this paper the hybridization of the 2D time domain boundary element method (BEM) with the unstructured transmission line method (UTLM) is described. The novel method enables accurate modelling of radiating boundary conditions, excitation by plane... Modeling curved carbon fiber composite (CFC) structures in the transmission-line modeling (TLM) method (2015)
Journal Article

A new embedded model for curved thin panels is developed in the transmission line modeling (TLM) method. In this model, curved panels are first linearized and then embedded between adjacent 2-D TLM nodes allowing for arbitrary positioning between adj... A versatile all-optical parity-time signal processing device using a Bragg grating induced using positive and negative Kerr-nonlinearity (2015)
Journal Article

The properties of gratings with Kerr nonlinearity and PT symmetry are investigated in this paper. The impact of the gain and loss saturation on the response of the grating is analysed for different input intensities and gain/loss parameters. Potentia... Impact of dispersive and saturable gain/loss on bistability of nonlinear parity–time Bragg gratings (2014)
Journal Article

We report on the impact of realistic gain and loss models on the bistable operation of nonlinear parity–time (PT) Bragg gratings. In our model we include both dispersive and saturable gain and show that levels of gain/loss saturation can have a signi... A novel photonic crystal band-pass filter using degenerate modes of a point-defect microcavity for terahertz communication systems (2014)
Journal Article

Compact devices are important for the realization of terahertz communications systems. This article proposes a novel photonic crystal-based device for realizing microminiature, high-selectivity high Q band-pass filters (BPF) and the design of a dual-... Modelling of dispersive PT-symmetric Bragg grating (2014)
Conference Proceeding

This paper reports on the time-domain numerical model of a parity-time Bragg grating with saturated and dispersive gain. The model is compared against the ideal PT scenario where the gain is constant and unsaturated for all frequencies.
