Biography I arrived at Nottingham in September 2018. Before that, I did my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Oxford, where I was also a Fellow by Examination at All Souls College.
Research Interests I am an historian of the later Roman Empire and late antiquity more generally. I wrote my doctoral thesis on the Roman Empire under Constantine, his sons, and successors, with a particular focus on Constantius II and Julian the Apostate - I am currently turning it into a book. I also work on late-antique and medieval attempts to write Roman history, late-antique letters and letter collections, and the manuscripts and transmission of late-Latin texts.
Teaching and Learning I enjoy teaching a wide range of topics within ancient history and culture. My current and upcoming teaching includes a first-year introduction to ancient history, a module on the fourth-century Roman Empire, and one on the Christian polemicist Lactantius, as well as Latin and Greek language.
