Threshold preservation of PT-resonant structures in realistic-dispersive medium
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Phang, S., Vukovic, A., Creagh, S. C., Benson, T. M., Sewell, P., & Gradoni, G. Threshold preservation of PT-resonant structures in realistic-dispersive medium. Presented at Optical Wave and Waveguide Theory and Numerical Modelling Workshop (OWTNM 2015)

The impact of material dispersion in the performance of parity-time (PT) symmetric coupled microresonators is studied. The eigenfrequencies of the coupled PT-system are analysed for different dispersion parameter. We show that realistic dispersion pr... Intergenerational interpretation of the Internet of Things
Book
Brown, M., Coughlan, T., Lawson, G., Mortier, R., Houghton, R., & Goulden, M. Intergenerational interpretation of the Internet of Things. Horizon Digital Economy Reseearch Institute. Manuscript submitted for publication

This report investigates how different generations within a household interpret individual members’ data generated by the Internet of Things (IoT). Adopting a mixed methods approach, we are interested in interpretations of the IoT by teenagers, thei... Read More about Intergenerational interpretation of the Internet of Things.

Parity-Time coupled microresonators: Kramers-Kronig limitation
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Phang, S., Vukovic, A., Creagh, S. C., Sewell, P., Gradoni, G., & Benson, T. M. Parity-Time coupled microresonators: Kramers-Kronig limitation. Presented at CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2015

In this talk, we use a KKE argument to show that the presence of dispersion alters the eigen-frequencies of coupled PT coupled microresonators, so that their eigen-frequencies are no longer complex conjugates after the EP.

Coupled parity-time symmetric cavities: results from transmission line modelling simulations
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Phang, S., Vukovic, A., Creagh, S., Sewell, P. D., Gradoni, G., & Benson, T. M. Coupled parity-time symmetric cavities: results from transmission line modelling simulations. Presented at 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks ICTON 2015

This paper studies the impact of a dispersive gain/loss material model on Parity-Time (PT) coupled microresonator cavity structures using the time-domain Transmission-Line Modelling method. A modal analysis is also performed to compare the modal comp... Read More about Coupled parity-time symmetric cavities: results from transmission line modelling simulations.

A new two-stage voltage source inverter with modulated DC-link voltage and reduced switching losses
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Klumpner, C. A new two-stage voltage source inverter with modulated DC-link voltage and reduced switching losses. Presented at 32nd Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IECON 2006)

This paper proposes a new DC/AC power converter topology that is obtained by merging a buck type DC/DC converter and a DC/AC three-phase PWM Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) without the need of the passive components (smoothing inductor and capacitance)... A new three-level indirect matrix converter with reduced number of switches
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Klumpner, C., Lee, M. Y., Pitic, C., Wheeler, P., & Zanchetta, P. A new three-level indirect matrix converter with reduced number of switches. Presented at IEEE-IAS 2007 Annual Meeting

Matrix converters are sine wave in/out forced commutated single-stage AC/AC direct frequency changers using a single bi-directional switch to connect any input to any output. Indirect two-stage matrix converters provide similar input and output perfo... Read More about A new three-level indirect matrix converter with reduced number of switches.

A new single-stage current source inverter for photovoltaic and fuel cell applications using reverse blocking IGBTs
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Klumpner, C. A new single-stage current source inverter for photovoltaic and fuel cell applications using reverse blocking IGBTs. Presented at 2007 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference (PESC 2007)

Renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics (PVs) or fuel cells (FCs) are not fitted for direct power grid connection because they deliver DC voltage and current. This is why a power electronic interface is needed, consisting usually of a current-... A two-stage power converter for welding applications with increased efficiency and reduced filtering
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Klumpner, C., & Corbridge, M. A two-stage power converter for welding applications with increased efficiency and reduced filtering. Presented at 2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE 2008)

The power supply technology used in welding applications changed dramatically from manually tap-controlled 50Hz bulky transformers which had large leakage inductance to provide stable arc burn to switch-mode fast controlled highfrequency power electr... A more efficient current source inverter with series connected AC capacitors for photovoltaic and fuel cell applications
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Klumpner, C., Chonlatee, P., & Wheeler, P. A more efficient current source inverter with series connected AC capacitors for photovoltaic and fuel cell applications. Presented at Power Electronics and Inteligent Motion (PCIM) 2009 (ISBN: 978-3-8007-3158-9)

Renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics (PVs) or fuel cells (FCs) are not fitted for direct power grid connection because they deliver DC voltage and current. In addition, they also have a high internal resistance/nonlinear V/I dependence, whi...
