Biography I completed my PhD at the University of Reading in 2007 and held Postdoctoral position at the Natural History Museum before moving to Switzerland (Eawag) on a Marie Curie Fellowship. Subsequently I continued my research as a PDRA at Eawag before moving to an Obersassistant position at ETH Zurich in 2013. I moved to the University of Nottingham in 2019.
Research Interests I study host-parasite dynamics in the context of epidemiology. My research addresses questions related to virulence, genetic diversity, reproduction and community diversity to understand how disease epidemics emerge. I use fish/invertebrate host systems and myxozoan parasites to study interactions from both foundational and applied angles. My research incorporates diverse set of molecular genomics and environmental DNA (eDNA) approaches with experimental work conducted in field, mesocosm and laboratory settings.
Teaching and Learning I teach in ecological and evolutionary subjects, with particular focus on freshwater ecology and host-parasite interactions.
