Biography My background is in Psychology, so the focus of my research has been how brain activity relates to behaviour in both the general population and clinical groups. I work predominantly with magnetoencephalography (MEG) to investigate neural power and network characteristics during different tasks, and explore how these change in patient groups such as schizophrenia, ADHD, tinnitus and mild traumatic brain injury. I have also incorporated neuromodulatory techniques such as transcranial direct current stimulation and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor drugs to further probe changes in neural activity. I have also been working on the development of optically pumped magnetometers for use across the whole body, to measure signals from muscle and foetus. More recently, I have been involved project-managing a number of clinical GI MRI studies, looking at the permeability of the gut-brain axis, and development of techniques for identifying Crohn's disease.
