Wang, Kaicheng; Liu, Feng; Tang, Yue
Abstract
Resso residence has an important meaning for us to understand the change of the architectural space concept in the process of Mies design, especially his understanding of the relationship between interior and exterior space. This article focuses on the spatial characteristics of the Resso residence that he began to draw in 1937, trying to explain that, in Resso residence, Mies tries to rationally arrange visual elements, create a visually continuous, uniform, and well-layered interior space by reducing the number of fixed components in the interior space, strengthening the continuity of the ceiling and floor; make the building itself a visual framework that integrates the interior and exterior spaces through the visual transparency treatment of the living room's exterior wall; and maintain the inherent spatial attributes while connecting the interior and exterior spaces. This is a set of rural residential space manipulation tools proposed by Mies after the German rural residential project, which are suitable for creating living spaces in a beautiful environment and integrating them into the natural environment.
