Post Nominals MSc Audiology, CAC, HCPC
Biography After completing a BSc at the University of Leicester, Catherine gained insight into the NHS by answering a hospital complaints line, then into health research as a Graduate Trainee Lab Technician for the University of Leicester. These experiences motivated her to become a clinical scientist. She gained her MSc in Audiology from the University of Southampton and completed the BAAS Certificate of Audiological Competence, as the Trent Regional Trainee, at University Hospitals Nottingham.

Catherine is a state-registered (HCPC) clinical scientist (Audiology) with experience of both adult and paediatric audiology and a special interest in cochlear implants. From 2000 until 2021 (barring a career break) she practiced at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust.

Catherine gained a PhD at the University of Nottingham in 2023, comparing outcomes for children with and without access to cochlear implantation. Her current role is Research Fellow on a multi-centre randomised clinical trial of cochlear implantation in adults with severe hearing loss who fall outside current NICE guidance for cochlear implantation. This project is a collaboration between the NIHR Nottingham Hearing Biomedical Research Centre and the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit. She serves as an ordinary member on the board of trustees of the British Cochlear Implant Group.
Research Interests Cochlear implant candidacy, children's spatial listening, the impact of hearing loss on children's educational outcomes, speech perception.
