Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of disability, often accompanied by comorbidities. Digital Messaging (DM) interventions are used to enhance self-management and patient-provider communication in OA. This review was conducted to explore the evidence, content, and delivery methods of DM interventions in managing OA. Scoping review of studies involving adults with OA using any type of DM intervention. One reviewer searched seven databases then two reviewers screened the evidence. Thirteen studies included in this review show diverse DM intervention designs and delivery methods. The interventions were mainly delivered behaviour change messages and OA-specific content. DM interventions are increasingly used for OA management but are varied and inconsistently reported.
