A new chemical approach that achieves ordered self?assembly of biomolecules is reported. The chemical tags bis?nitrilotriacetic acid (bisNTA) and hexahistidine (His6) are attached to DNA duplexes that self?assemble into supramolecular structures whose subunits are held together by Ni2?bisNTA?His6?chelate bridges.
