Abstract
In his study, innovative design approaches for scalable and modular inverter-fed electrical machines, tailored for aerospace applications, are explored with the primary goal of achieving unparalleled power density within powertrain systems. Three distinct design frameworks are introduced: the utilization of separate machines for individual functions, the deployment of a singular machine capable of performing dual functions, and the adoption of a high-speed machine with gearbox configuration. Each concept is subjected to rigorous multi-objective optimization analysis, with an emphasis on both power density and operational efficiency, to determine the most optimal design strategy for revolutionizing aerospace electrification.
