Abstract

The voltage source inverter (VSI) is a classic topology widely used for ac conversion. In this paper sequential predictive control (SPC) is applied to a VSI converter that supplies a RL load. The objective is to demonstrate the potential of this new trend in predictive control. SPC eliminates the weighting factors from the cost functions in classical predictive control through the evaluation of simple cost functions. The procedure is explained in detail and the results obtained are compared with a classic predictive current controller. The proposed SPC presents an effective current tracking and also reduces common-mode voltage. In comparison with classic predictive controller, SPC provides better performance in terms of common-mode voltage reduction.
