Abstract

Access to healthcare services is one of the main obstacles to migrants' and refugees' integration and inclusion in the host countries. They face challenges accessing healthcare services when arriving in European Union (EU) countries. The Refugee Health Integration Project (ReHIn) project aims to create several creative digital resources to enable the integration of refugees into the EU's health culture. Besides the educational material developed, the initiative analysed educational initiatives for refugees to establish guidelines and best practices, encouraging and informing them about similar future endeavours. The work explored different educational initiatives in the EU to compile educational needs regarding the healthcare systems and elaborate recommendations based on success and failure drivers. Sixteen practices were collected and analysed, and a guideline was elaborated to inform the wider audience, including educators and healthcare organisations, about how to create material about refugees, showing good practices that have happened in Europe to extract knowledge and aspects on which researchers, policymakers and non-governmental organisation (NGOs) can learn and improve when they develop their health-related resources for refugees.
