Abstract
The BSAVA Lab Equipment Verification Tool can be used to to verify manufacturer’s claims for automated analyser performance, or alternatively to determine the limitations of your laboratory methods. The tool automatically calculates the total observed error for each analyte, and compares the value for your machine against the recommended maximum total allowable error. In addition, the tool will determine if you should use alternative, more sensitive, QC strategies to monitor the performance of your analyser and detect analytical errors at an earlier stage. By performing these checks, and ensuring that your in-house analyser is able to tell you what you need to know, practitioners can be assured that the results they obtain are fit for purpose, and therefore feel more confident in their clinical decision making. IMPORTANT: please read the Instructions for using the tool chapter before entering any data.
