Weighting factor-free direct speed predictive control with improved transient performance

Abstract

Direct predictive speed control (DSPC) of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) offers a non-cascaded control scheme with a fast dynamic response and better disturbance rejection ability. However, similar to other direct model predictive control schemes, it involves a cumbersome weighting factor selection procedure. This paper proposes a weighting factor-free DSPC scheme with improved transient performance for PMSM control. The proposed method uses a Euclidean norm-based decision-making method to eliminate weighting factors and an additional toque control term to regulate the control performance during transients. Comparative simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method retains the advantages of the traditional Euclidean norm-based decision-making method while enhancing transient performance. Finally, a DSPC scheme with superior control performance and lower design complexity is achieved through simple manipulation.
