Abstract

This chapter examines the immense photographic effort undertaken by the Nazi regime to document the resettlement of different 'ethnic German' minorities from eastern and south-eastern Europe in the period 1939-41 and asks what propaganda messages can be read in them - and where different meanings can be deduced from the images.
