Abstract
This chapter starts from the eye of a storm for global existence. The earth is warming towards catastrophic temperatures, species are disappearing, lifestyles in the global North continue to demand extraction and death from the South, governments refuse to disinvest from white-man-capitalist development, and education is mass-producing homo economicus to staff, manage and secure this mode of existence. Wanting education to transform this situation raises difficult questions. What learning can interrupt the circuits of power that hold such systemic violence in place today? How can educational desire be reoriented away from sustaining harmful social relations that benefit some towards confronting the problem that we collectively may have no future at all?
